(CNN)Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott left the field on a cart Sunday, choking back tears as he raised a fist to the fans in attendance at the AT&T Stadium after suffering a horrific injury against NFC East opponents the New York Giants. Prescott has undergone surgery to repair a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle. The surgery aimed to "wash out the wound and fix the fracture," according to a statement from the team.

The injury occurred in the third quarter on a scramble in which Prescott was tackled awkwardly by Giants free safety Logan Ryan. Medical personnel rushed onto the field and splinted his leg as players and coaches on both teams looked on with great concern.

Dalton looked good coming in, he is set to do very good, great arm, maybe even better decisions. Finally they may give the running game a chance.

We met up with our kid and friend yesterday for an early dinner at a restaurant that had a couple of TVs that are usually showing some sports games. Being in the Austin suburbs, they had the Giants-Cowboys game on. Right after we all sat down, we looked up at the TV *just* as Dak was being injured. It was the first play of the NFL that I watched live this season. I don’t need to see any more.

Just do away with professional sports. Nobody cares about their politics and make watching it a chore.

The irony is it was the first game back yesterday for Alex Smith after his injury.

Looks like Dak sustained the injury before even being hit, he planted his foot awkwardly and it just gave out. I don’t know what kind of artificial turf they have at Jerry World, but it sure didn’t help.

Did he kneel?

That’s the only question. If he did, screw him.

All these overpaid idiots deserve to lose their jobs and money for showing disrespect to flag and country.

Watching them - even for a minute - is feeding the hate for America. It’s u patriotic to watch the NFL. Hit them where it hurts - money.

Then we vote out any politician supporting handouts to anti-American sports. Pro. College. High school. End their funding. Now.

I looked into this just out of morbid curiosity. Man, that looks terrible! That had to hurt.

I have not watched a pro-sports game this season and I have missed anything of significance.

Sports are now politics. Why watch more. I get enough already.

I’m boycotting the NFL but this injury sounds absolutely Joe Theismann-like.

Praying this fellow will recover.

Almost.

He had a compound fracture and severely dislocated ankle.
