“Heartland” Is Television At Its Finest.
Bil Hanna's Film and TV reviews ^ | APRIL 4, 2016 · 12:34 AM | Bill Hanna

On Oct. 14, 2007, “Heartland” made its debut on Canadian television (CBC), and it ultimately became the longest-running scripted series in the history of Canadian TV. In fact, it recently has been renewed for a 10th season. Based upon Lauren Brooke’s “Heartland” books (25 novels), the series tells the story of Amy Fleming (Amber Marshall), who lives on ranch near the fictional town of Hudson in Alberta, Canada, situated at the edge of the picturesque Alberta Rockies.

Trust me when I tell you that this show has it all – drama, humor, love, loss, hope, despair, mystery, and anything else you can think of. And the cinematography defies adequate description. I have never been as completely captivated by a series as I am with this one, and it earns the final score of an irreversible 10+. Once you visit “Heartland,” you’ll never want to leave.

3-2-1 — countdown until the lgbt crowd attacks it and destroys it through intimidation of the advertisers.

Well, they’re the longest-running in years maybe, but not in seasons. How can they have been on since 2007, but have just been renewed for a 10th season? It doesn’t add up.

Did they skip a few years?

Murdoch Mysteries started just a couple of months later, in January 2008, and has done 13th seasons and been renewed for their 14th.

I tried watching the first episode and I found it cringeworthy. Acting and dialog were both embarrassingly bad.

It's a soap opera with horses, but without all the tawdry behavior of contemporary soap operas. Nonetheless, it is chock full of all of the angst and back stabbing that is a hallmark of the genre.

The thing that strikes me as odd about the series is that there is no religion at all. These rancher folks don't have any religious beliefs that I can discern. Most unusual.

Hockey Night In Canada is the longest running series. The theme tune was considered the second national anthem until the powers that be decided to change it some years ago.

I'll bet that it's a great show but I'm still enjoying the Red Green Show. I have a dream of someday settling in Port Asbestos with Edgar “KB” Montrose as my neighbor!

That is true and is the only drawback about the show.
But its so much better than the sewer pipe of 95% of American television.

Canadiens do skip years here and there in an effort to give writers time to rejuvenate and come up with new ideas.

All because of $$$.

Their rights ran out some years back, and the tune's owner wanted in excess of 7 figures.

So HNIC said frig that, we'll get a new jingle.
