Jay Cutler is receiving backlash on social media after posting a series of photos to his Instagram with a bull elk he was able to harvest during a recent hunt. The former NFL quarterback posted the photos last week from his New Mexico elk hunt.
Its a wrap in NM. Amazing hunt. Short but sweet, he wrote in the caption of the photo posted on Thursday.
Jay did receive some love from the likes of elk hunting legend, Cameron Hanes, along with a handful of former teammates. Former Chicago Bears tight end Zack Miller commented Pew pew!! Or was it just pew? #DED and ex-Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long added big smile.
However, even though most of his fans were excited for his success, there were some who were.. less enthused, lets call it.
I will never [understand] murdering defenseless, beautiful, unsuspecting animals as a form of entertainment, one person posted in the comments. Poor harmless animal, posted another.
"I could never kill any animal that beautiful.. She could have babies waiting on her, someone else chimed in.
If you havent caught on, it seems the people who have the issue with this arent quite informed enough on whats REALLY going on here.
First of all, its not just a form of entertainment. Theres a solid chance the elk Jay shot is going to provide dozens of meals for him and his family, and he may even dish some out to some very lucky friends of his. And second, well, if you dont know how to distinguish a male elk from a female, then please do a little research before you criticize others for hunting.
Speaking of friends, there were several people in the comments who stood up for Jay and his successful hunting trip.
Always amuses me that the ones who comment poor animal or complaining about him posing with the animal are the same ones who post photos on their Instagram of their hamburgers or steaks at fancy restaurants before eating them, someone said in his defense.
How dare you go out and ethically harvest fresh organic meat for your family! Dont you know youre supposed to buy factory farmed meat at Whole Foods so that no animals are killed. Im outraged you did this all without a mask on too! another wrote.
Growing up in Indiana, Jay got started hunting at a young age. If you follow him on Instagram, you know he does not shy away from his roots, either. Last month, he shared a post with him and his dad after a successful velvet whitetail hunt.
And earlier this year, we followed along as Cutler went on a totally different kind of hunt when he tried to catch up with a chicken serial killer on his farm.
Need to find that pic of cutler that bears fans have that show jay saying dont care
I think Jay Cutler is in the #15 earnings among QBs all time. And did he ever have a good year?
Those elks arent going to hunt themselves. And guides have families to clothe, house and feed.
Best 8-8 quarterback ever. He’s the reason I the up on football, during his 2nd or 3rd season with the Bears during his long term contract. I realized the Bears would never be in another super bowl, let alone wins obe, and what’s the point of lurking up with attitudes and endless commercials?
He should team up with Ted Nuggent and Declare with Ted “We don’t give a rip what you Nancies in red dresses think about hunting”
Organic, cage-free elk steaks should be embraced by these virtue signaling Smash-Burgers.
I had elk last week. My buddy shot a 900 lb elk
When a person puts his life on Instagram, he’s inviting the crazy hostility as well as the dopey praise.
It looks dry there.
Amazing...Hunting helps those animals. Elk is great!!!
Why should he care? Hes retired and has FU money. Theres nothing these eco Nazis can do to him.
Unless the Elk is transgendered, it doesn’t have babies at home, dumb liberal!! Only makes have antlers!
As a Bronco fan (well, used to be prior to the NFL becoming woke) who watched Cutler way too many times casually walk off the field like he didnt care after throwing yet another interception, I would say that if he shoots like he throws the elk have nothing to worry about.
Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has a hunting show on the Outdoor Channel. I guess he will be the next victim in their sights.
Went to school with Ed McCaffrey. Not sure how long ago you were a supporter. A great family!
Cutler hitting a target? Did not do that when he played for the Bears.
If he takes it home to eat or donates the meat to a food bank, I have NO problem with that. Years ago a co-worker of mine would go out at the beginning of bow season and bring home one deer for himself and two for the county food bank. There was a butcher who dressed them free of charge for the food bank.
That was all before McCaffreys time, of course, but players like him, Rod Smith, Terrell Davis, etc. were some of the last people who were also good people, before we entered the thug era. And now we have woke thugs, so that was the last straw for me. Havent watched them at all this season.
