Margaret Atwood copied the basic idea from Robert Heinlein's
Revolt in 2100. A much better book in my opinion. Read it as a teenage science fiction fan. Read Atwood's take as required reading in college.
Not close enough to be plagiarism, but seriously unoriginal.
The professoress was very not amused by my essay pointing out the similarities in detail.
