I know from personal experience that it happens.
I was taking my dogs out for the last time of the night and when I went out with them the storm door slammed behind me and didn’t sound right. I turned around and it looked like something was hung in the door. I opened the door to see what it was and a large rat snake fell off the top of the door, landed on my head, and wrapped itself around my neck. It eventually jumped off of me and landed inside the entrance. It went slithering across the room with me right behind it. My husband was asleep so I got him up and we went snake hunting. It took a while but we finally chased it out the door. We don’t kill the “good” snakes.
Now I always look up when taking the girls out. LOL
Well....great. Not sure how I am supposed to go out the door to go to work today. Because your story basically is my nightmare. Nothing is supposed to drop on my head and wrap itself around my neck when Im just headin out my own damn door. ;)
How to herd snakes: with a cane or long stick move it head to point to the direction of the open door. Touch in on tail. They usually head toward the door.
