Gavin Newsom Asks Trump to 'Agree to Disagree' That Climate Change Has Impact on California Wildfires

California Governor Gavin Newsom met with Donald Trump on Monday for a briefing on the wildfires that continue to ravage the state and much of the West Coast.

Newsom asked Trump to "agree to disagree" on the politics of climate change, telling the president point-blank that "climate change is real" and is only exacerbating the deadly fires.

"We can agree to disagree, and I appreciate your frame on the politics of this, but let me just acknowledge two things briefly," Newsom said in the meeting, which took place at the Sacramento McClellan Airport in McClellan Park, California.

"There's no question when you look past this decade, looking past almost a thousand-plus years, that we have not done justice on our forest management," Newsom said, seeming to reference one of Trump's earlier critiques that California had not done enough to clear detritus from forest floors, which can act as fuel for wildfires.

Newsom said that the state had made a commitment to double forest management efforts over the next two years in response.

The Governor also pointed out that 57 percent of forest land in California is owned by the federal government, and only three percent is owned by the state.

"So we really do need that support," he told Trump, who in 2018 threatened to cut off federal aid if the state did not remedy what he called at the time the "gross mismanagement of the forests."

Newsom then on Monday asked Trump to "respect" the state's recognition that in addition to poor forest management, climate change is having an undeniable impact on the ongoing wildfires.

Climate change might. But climate change is part of nature. Always has been.

DEMs don’t caved. They play a political angle, then claim victory at a later date. It’s how they’ve incrementally reduced our freedoms over the years.

POTUS should show his ‘disagree’ bonafides with a check to the recall movement.

The climate is changing. It’s always been changing. Greenland was green once, it will be again someday.

That, however has nothing to do with the use of ‘climate change’ as a quasi religion used to justify an anti capitalist, anti freedom, socialist jihad against private property, private transportation, and free association.

We should be taking into account the planet is getting hotter some places, storms may indeed be getting more intense and fires more widespread. It also *might* even be that 7 or 8 billion humans have something to do with this.

But even if so, no self-flagellating about our supposed eco-crimes, and no amount of ‘going green’ here in the USA means squat while China and India are seeing BILLIONS of new drivers and hundreds of millions of new enterprises and development.

I’m not going to live like a caveman and use less energy than my parents or grandparents just so some SOB in Beijing or Mumbai can have the first car in their family’s history.

“Trump said Monday that he doesn’t ‘think science knows, actually,’ CNN reported, despite the scientific evidence that shows climate change is making the fires worse.”

There it is. The only Trump quote has to be explicitly rejected in the very same sentence, lest we make the mistake of judging for ourselves.

"Climate change might. But climate change is part of nature. Always has been."

Stupidity of California politicians has had a bigger impact.

"...climate change is part of nature..."

We have to qualify: climate change caused by human activity.

I don't know if we can prove that human activity has caused climate change but, if someone believes that to be true, then the simple solution is to close national borders to immigration and allow populations to decrease in number (as is already occurring in virtually all first-world-countries).

Fewer people; less climate change due to human activity.

Dennis Prager recently described Newsom as “that most dangerous of leaders — a fool with unlimited power.”

“climate change is having an undeniable impact on the ongoing wildfires.”

Oh hell yes! Political climate has got so that its impossible to do anything without kickbacks, bribes, fraud and payoffs.

That is the only climate that has changed-political climate.

Hate to boast, but I personally could solve that problem in a couple of years. Its called plain ol common sense and good forestry practices.

Until then..it will burn, people will die and lose everything they ever had or ever will have.

Since forest fires were much worse in the 30’s Newsom is still an idiot and should be put in stocks and have rotten tomatoes thrown at him.

Notice how the Left has dropped the words “Man Made” when they mention Climate Change?

POTUS Trump has already stated publicly that the Climate may be changing, he correctly doesn’t think Man has anything to do with it.

As a point of fact, the United States percentage of so called Carbon Emissions is at its lowest point in Decades.

Propaganda isn’t just what they tell you, it’s what they don’t tell you.

Yeah, my reply to him is that science isn’t faith, it’s science.

If Newsome is asking us to ‘believe in’ climate change, then sorry, no.

Prove it. That’s it.

The one fact is that forests are mismanaged, and now due to ANTIFA arsonists, they’re on fire.

If climate change is contributing to it, then spend your own cash on that and send me the science and I’ll consider it. If that science can be successfully replicated somewhere else then it’s fact.

The real issue here is the crux of the problems with California: Cronyism.

The state government routinely takes any endowment, grant, or funds from the Feds and uses it to pay for "social programs" instead of the intended purpose. This happens routinely in the Golden State, which is why we have worse seasonal fires year over year as well as the highest homelessness rates, highest drug addiction rates, one of the worst school systems, etc. yet we Californians pay huge sums of money for all of these issues, which never improve.

When I say "Social Programs" I really mean political graft; many programs are pet projects used to funnel money into organizations that are just fronts for ingratiating family and friends of politicians and their political sycophantic goons. You see this across the country, not just California, but damn if California has perfected the practice! Gotta love single party rule!

Oh, and California GOP: Go to H3LL! You guys don't even bother to show up and fail to deliver most districts and municipalities even a choice; you can't win or change anything if you don't show up! Many Californians want a change and I think we are ripe for a red wave, but the local GOP just sits on their rears and complains instead of making any real effort.

Climates change. Always have. Always will...

As for fires... You can mitigate those with proper land management and SHOOTING SOCIALIST ARSONISTS IN THE HEAD.

Easy.

discussing why temperatures are high why droughts happen doesn’t preclude clearing forest brush, zoning dangerous fire areas properly, monitoring utility lines in drought areas. so be accountable Newsom.

If you agree to disagree you have to quit talking about it and move on to whatever common ground that can be found, or at least tolerate each other’s opinions in relative silence.

What do they think is causing ‘climate change’? Is it POLLUTION?

I think we can ALL 100% agree to end pollution without having to call it ‘climate change’ and have a policy.

Saying pollution causes climate change is a THEORY, while we know pollution itself is a fact.

There are some who are saying the carbon dioxide is plant food and is actually helping the planet.

I have been using this argument with libtards with some success.
