Let’s face it...the 1950’s era is what a lot of FR is all about:

*Christian morals and values
*A normal American nuclear family
*Children who (mostly) respected and obeyed their parents
*Punishment for those who did what was contrary to normal society
*11-year-old girls played with dolls or helped their mother in the kitchen
*A father teaching his son how to be a true man would teach him respect for women. They would teach daughters how a man is supposed to respect and treat women

....and the kicker...

Men who looked at this kind of foul dreck were considered unfit for Normal society and, if found, were locked up in either a prison or mental facility. If in prison, and found out to be jailed for pedophilia, they were usually expected to endure a very short and painful life. One of the WORST things you could be accused of in prison is pedophilia.

That was not only true in the 50’s...it should be true TODAY.

And yet you deny all the bad things that happened in the Fifties.

Your statement “punishment for those who did what was contrary to society” was the problem back then as it is now. The question remains what is “normal society”? Society is ever changing. What was is no more and what is no more is tomorrow’s dream.

Don’t forget McCarthyism occurred in the 1950’s and how many innocent lives were destroyed by that? Conservatism/racism today has become the new Communist of the 50’s. Don’t think I want to go back to that.

So only those values that mattered in the fifties were those of Christian morals?

Children, especially teens, have always rebelled against their parents and grandparents. It is the American way. Or what were Hot Rods in the fifties all about?

If you aren’t teaching your son how to be a true man and respect for women, that onus is on the parent. If not and I see him disrespect a woman, he definitely will get a lesson on the proper respect for a woman. That isn’t a threat its a reality I have done over many times.

Again if your daughter is taught how a man is supposed to respect women, most of the women in here would do a Gibbs on you. IN 1950’s women were supposed to stay home, cook, clean, get pregnant and bring you your red dinner jacket and pipe (okay the jacket might be too much). Thank god we have moved on from that. But then again, maybe your daughter should be taught on how to be a woman rather than to act like the village truck stop. You would send your daughter to college to earn a degree to become a housewife? That is what they did in the fifties. Hmm maybe the fifties weren’t so good for women.

I could go on and on about things wrong with the Fifties. Why because my dad and mom lived them and I am their son who taught me to respect my elders. Had I obeyed punishment was swift and sometimes a Hug the post game was played. My father having grown up in the fifties had the James Dean look down and James Dean was his hero. No what you seek is the Cleaver family. Gosh gee willikers Wally, I never knew. It’s funny people who want to glorify the fifties as a much simpler time when in reality it was not as simple as they seem to think it was. Yes my father was in a band as the drummer and my Uncle was the lead singer. They played at fairs and other events.

Same stuff different day. Never did get my answer on the Dance Moms show.
