I worked with some people from a different part of the country whose sole aim was to get so drunk they would pass out. Then they would brag about it the next day. “Boy, did I get drunk last night!!! Oh, did I get really drunk!!!” Scientists who study the brain say that kind of drinking turns off all parts of the brain except the very last part that keeps you alive. The next step is death.

This makes sense to me. There are no doubt other factors but drinking to excess probably is one for dementia.

I knew a young man in his 30’s that literally fried his brain on alcohol. It made a vegetable out of him and put him in a nursing home for life.
