What alternatives are available to those disillusioned with Boy Scouts of America? Fortunately, there are a number of similar programs that still adhere to traditional values. Alternatives to the Boy Scouts include clubs that are open to girls, have complementary programs for girls and groups that are only for fathers and sons. This article provides a synopsis of several programs, listed in alphabetical order, that rival the Scouts along with links to the home page of each program.

The Civil Air Patrol’s cadet program is an excellent adolescent leadership program.

Aye, it did me well when I was young, but it might be different now in today’s woke military. Not sure.

There are a number of church based scouting groups. Of course, in today’s world, fathers need to be involved, you can’t just trust anyone with access to your kid. And anyway, thats a big part of the point of it all, is father-son time.

I also went through the program, and it did me good.

At the time, the military was way out of favor, so having to keep my hair short was a big problem, and I really didn’t want my friends to see me in uniform. But I learned a lot, and had opportunities I wouldn’t have had otherwise.

The core values of CAP remain unchanged. If anything the program is probably better now than ever.

I can think of few organizations for young men and women that offer such opportunities for leadership.

The service academies are full of former CAP cadets. For that matter, so is NASA and Congress. (Don't hold that against them!)

The Civil Air Patrol’s cadet program is an excellent adolescent leadership program.

Nowadays it depends on the wing, and even then a poor squadron commander can ruin it. There was a lot of "diversity uber alles" mandatory training by 2011, possibly more since.

Trail life will recognize BSA rank and merit badges so a scout can transfer to Trail life without losing any achievements or repeating accomplishments.

I am a BSA scoutmaster for our troop. I’ve mentored 8 boys to the rank of Eagle including my own son.

I announced my retirement effective Jan1, 2021 the day after the BSA announced their support of BLM. I’ve had enough. It took a lot to run me off because I love my scouts and I’m proud of what they have done, achieved and become through the BSA program.

But it almost seems like the BSA wants to die. Finally, I took the hint :(

It’s called a FAMILY, with a father, a mother and their naturally occurring offspring. The way it was up until the 20th Century. We can live without a “boys” organization again.

Actually, the Boy Scouts remain an alternative to a decaying culture.

The BSA National Office is a disaster. National is where all the stupid and destructive policies and decisions are made, and housed.

However, in practice the real management of the Troop is with...the Troop. Furthermore, Councils wield more power than National and in general Councils provide resources and advancement help without a heavy hand.

As I said, it is at the Troop adult/leadership level where the general tone is set. Despite what the MSM want you to believe (because they really, really like the BSA), the century+ tradition and time-tested skills/spirit/education combo that developed the character of tomorrow's men remains alive and well with thousands of individuals who haven't bowed to the enemies of civilization. And if you find a Troop that isn't in synch with you, find another one - you aren't shackled to your town's Troop. Or start your own...you know...innovation and self-starting initiative.

And BE INVOLVED...even if you choose an alternative to BSA, nobody has your child's best interest at heart as much as you do. Become an Assistant Scoutmaster, go on trips, maybe even learn a few things.

I get the desire to dump the BSA. I also understand how society wants conservatives to abandon tradition. Do what is best for your kids - be it BSA or something else. But don't let CNN or some dude who knew a guy who knew a guy who said Boy Scouts sucks, think for you.

As a leader of 20+ years in BSA, I am so happy that my sons went through the program many years ago. The program was wonderful back then. BSA has been sued out instead of sold out. It is merely a shadow of its former self.

Last I heard they were sued to allow girls into their program, only to have Girl Scouts of America sue them for allowing girls into their program. They cannot win for losing.

It is imploding, but only because of the forced compliance with the many lawsuits. The liberals want to destroy anything and everything that creates strong men.

The U.S military is another fine example of the evisceration of anything male.
