Does anyone have any well informed suggestions for purchasing pepper spray for personal protection? Cost is not really an issue. I'm interested in brands that are most effective, easy to use without spraying it by mistake, reliable online vendors, etc.
Gel is supposedly superior to spray. Spray can blow back on you. Also, some sprays come with a harmless “practice” spray can.
Bear Spray, it will shoot up to 20 feet and has LOTS of habanero chili oil in it. LOLOL!!!!
10% OC content. Gels are more directional than sprays. Get something with a UV marker included. And those tiny little keychain things are useless.

Whatever you get, get a couple extras and practice somewhere, especially drawing and firing. Use goggles and mask at first!!! Jeans, long sleeves. Then save empty, practice morw, like dry firing.
Practice with both hands. If you get good off-hand, you can keep on belt on that side, save primary hand for carry piece.
At least 10% OC and as large a canister as you can carry.
Those little keychain units work on sane folks, but not the hardened insane, hyped-up rioters....one needs a big can like the LEOs use.
Years ago, I used to sell the stuff at gun shows. One of my best sellers was a big, old 1-quart can of the stuff nicknamed: “The GhettoBlaster”. It would put out a blast about 10’-15’...even the most nasty of the insane couldn’t take it.
Hornet nest spray. Pretty good range.
That can actually get you charges where pepper spray wouldn’t. Also, carrying it is both obvious and not convenient.

Comes highly recommended.
LOL!
Fox urine works too, so does bear spray.
Here are a few pointers. Just my opinion.
1. Avoid the junk thats sold at store check-out counters. Buy police-grade pepper spray. Sabre is a good brand. Its available on Amazon. Fox used to make a good pepper spay. But they recently changed the formula. I dont know how good it is now.
2. I think Jeff Chandler is right. Gel is superior to spray. Sabre makes a gel pepper spray.
3. Id stay away from bear or wasp spray. Yes, they can be effective against humans. But look at their cans. Youll probably see something like It is against federal law to use in a manner not intended. A liberal DA would just love to jam you up on that.
4. The last time I looked, pepper spray was legal in all 50 states and in DC. But some states have size restrictions. Do a Google search on your state before buying anything.
Muriatic acid mixed with aloe vera gel is far better than that other crap y’all are recommending. Whoever is trying to assault you won’t ever bother you again. Guaranteed. [FBI non-BLM/Anti-fa author disclaimer: Humor intended.]
Went to gun shop for the one I carry when walking...and another for my purse and vehicle.
And, I don’t believe in spray and pray anyway. My friend Walt always takes care of me when someone wants to hurt me. I can always call on him and he’s real specific and doesn’t just target folks at random.
