FReepers, its time to purchase a new cookware set. My current non-stick pan is chipping.
I have lodge cast iron pans for occasional use, but would like an everyday non-stick pan.
Any suggestions?
Are you a Johnny Horton fan?
FWIW, I’m liking my Misen. It’s my go to for pretty much most of my cooking.
Make the cast iron your everyday pan. You will love it.
For me, cook wear needs to be something cheap because I’m a “spiller onner me-er” and also needs to be fire resistant because, well, sometimes get distracted...
I should probably invest in a nomex suit but I just don’t cook that often to make it worth the money.
Or, take the dive and get some carbon steel. They don’t cost much and are supposed to do a great job with minimal care.
All clad. Look to tjmaxx. They have Italian stock pits, all clad. Buy retail at wm sonoma.
Rather than non-stick try the hard anodized. It last a lot longer and doesn’t have the minor health issue Teflon has. It’s a bit more expensive but last for a long, long time
Gotham steel line is very nice ceramic nonstick line of pans that are inexpensive and work
For max lifespan use wood/plastic utensils and just regular dawn dish soap for cleaning
Of course! And one with big appetite :)
All clad.
I tend to microwave in Corelle or grill.
I read some “Best rated” list and got a non-stick Tramontina pan.
I’ve been happy with it. Great for eggs.
I really like cast iron- it’s been in the family for over 100 years. I also have some “Magnlite” pots that have held up great.
Agreed. And cast iron lasts forever. One of my cast iron skillets was handed down to me by my mother, who got it in France long before I was born.
Lodge Cast Iron pans are cheap pop-outs. The real good cast iron pans were machined smooth and slick on the inside and were superb. You might find one in a garage sale. Good luck.
I just use my cast iron. 40 years old and good as new.
