Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has heaped praise on China's 'smart, hardworking' people when it comes to manufacturing electric vehicles and says 'entitled' and 'complacent' Americans are now taking things for granted.
In an interview with the Automotive News podcast, the 49-year-old billionaire specifically criticized New York and California, which are two states that have given his businesses tax breaks and other government help.
When asked his thoughts on China being a global electric vehicle strategy leader, Musk said: 'China rocks in my opinion.'
'The energy in China is great. People there, there's like a lot of smart, hard working people. And they're really, they're not entitled, they're not complacent.
'Whereas I see in the United States increasingly much more complacency and entitlement especially in places like the Bay Area, and LA and New York.'
Musk said the United States was now taking things for granted after 'winning for too long'.
He compared California and New York to professional sporting teams about to lose their winning status.
'When you've been winning for too long you sort of take things for granted. The United States, and especially like California and New York, you've been winning for too long,' he said.
'When you've been winning too long you take things for granted. So, just like some pro sports team they win a championship you know a bunch of times in a row, they get complacent and they start losing.'

I wonder how well electric cars work underwater or that matter how well Chinese workers do for that matter?

Musk has no idea just how efficent his Chinese workers really are Every manufacturing technique, patent and design are being stolen and will ultimately be given to Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers. Doubt he will be able to distrubute one dollar of profit from his Chinese operations to his stockholders. Within ten tears Tesla will “sell” its Chinese based operations to the Chinese. Doubt they will ever see a profit. No doubt he is also being “encouraged” to employ Chinese engineers in his Space X facilities.
Actually, several Chinese companies—especially CATL—are almost just as on the cutting edge of battery technology as Tesla. That’s why CATL is building factories in Europe just to supply European EV manufacturers.

Both my ex and current wife are Chinese, I’ve been to China a lot - especially the southern provinces.
China has its own entitlement mentality, but obviously Musk never sees that. Two hour lunches so the workers can take a nap for example. Corruption off the scale, beyond anything Americans can imagine.
Chinese workers will tolerate horrific working and living conditions for very low pay as long as the job provides room and board (then they go home for a day every so often). Families understand when the bread winner is away most of the year - as their marital relationships are not as close as ours here. (Hence the first ex in my case.)
The middle and upper middle class in China are total assholes. They act as though they rule the world, and are the CCP members. The lowly workers are great people - as they tend to come from rural areas - a lot like the US.
Every time I’m in China I tend to stay out in the countryside among the normals.
One thing China is really good at is STEALING!
