Anyone on this thread who would like to read a fascinating and humorous autobiography about a young woman’s experience working her new job at a crematory should pick up a copy of Caitlin Doughty’s book entitled ‘Smoke Gets in Your Eyes’. Ms. Doughty subsequently became a licensed mortician. I signed out a copy on a Holland America cruise ship, and it is one of the best memories of that cruise. Great read!

One of those Practical Joker websites had one where there was a new guy being introduced to the cremation procedure.
They loaded the corpse into the oven and lit it up.
Immediately there were screams of agony. The Joker started screaming “OMG! He’s alive! Turn it off! Turn it off!”. The poor mark ran around like crazy trying to shut everything down until minutes later, he just about collapsed. The Joker thought it was funny.
I would have shoved him in next - and not shut down any valves.
