The Mississippi capital named after Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States, voted on Tuesday to remove the former Southern populist's statue from the grounds of City Hall in a 5-to-1 vote.
Jackson council members decided to relocate the statue as it becomes another city forced to confront the legacies of slave-owning presidents amid a cultural shift and national reckoning triggered by the death of George Floyd, a Black man who was killed by a White police officer in Minneapolis.

Mrs. jimfree and I are sked to attend a convention in Jackson MS next summer. I found on CafePress a variety of Andrew Jackson image buttons. Lunacy. Nation of fools.
This is monstrous. There are no perfect people. None. No squeaky clean political leaders. No error-free scientists.

Perhaps that is their true goal. Reset us to Year One as the radical French Revolutionaries did.

Second, the politicians are making these decisions out of fear, not conviction (that’s what I think).
I have roots in Mississippi but haven’t been back for several years. Don’t know what the bulk of Mississipians think.
Me, too!..................
