This Fourth of July weekend, which finds much of America reeling from a rocky first half of 2020, the mainstream and social media hype can be summed up in three words: "Hamilton" is back. The play has won 11 Tony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize for drama, and, according to Forbes, has generated over $1 billion in income from Broadway/London/United States tour ticket sales, publishing, cast recording and merchandising. A filmed version was released on the Disney+ streaming service on Friday.

I saw the show last night with my mom and son. I was pleasantly surprised that it was a pretty good play. After a while, you don't see black or white in the characters. What I liked was that they portrayed the men and women the way they probably acted, and didn't look like the formalized paintings of people that we knew growing up.

When, VP-elect Mike Pence, came to see the Broadway performance of Hamilton on 18 November of 2016, the cast, at their curtain call, chose the cast member playing Aaron Burr, to unleash the following on the paying customer; "We, sir - we - are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights". Of course Mr Pence was magnanimous in his response, defending their RIGHT of free speech and to express their concerns.

The New York arts crowd, the LEFT, the MSM, the 'intelligentsia' et.al., on the other hand, rose up with praise for such a brave piece of performance art, a true bravura act! It was at that point that I lost all interest in 'Hamilton'!

I went an read the article. The black author is unhappy that, while Hamilton was woke enough for 2015, it’s not woke enough for 2020.

The lesson to take away? NOTHING will ever satisfy the Left, so stop bothering to try.

Saw it the other day and loved it! A new way to tell the story and has inspired me to get a couple books on Alexander Hamilton. He is one founding father I haven’t researched much.
