U.S. national soccer team star Alex Morgan has become a mom just in time for Mother’s Day.

Morgan announced Saturday on social media that she gave birth to daughter Charlie Elena Carrasco at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Charlie weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces.

“She made us wait longer than expected, but I should have known she would do it her way and her way only. My super moon baby,” Morgan wrote in an Instagram post.

Morgan and husband Servando Carrasco, who is a midfielder for the LA Galaxy, announced in October that they were expecting their first child in April.

At 1130am on May 7 weighing 8lbs5oz, Charlie Elena Carrasco made her grand entrance into the world. She made us wait longer than expected, but I should have known she would do it her way and her way only. My super moon baby. pic.twitter.com/dDbIXW6INr— Alex Morgan (@alexmorgan13) May 9, 2020

Charlie must have arrived a little after her due date. Good thing the doctor didn’t induce the birth. I hear that is often what happens.
I guess the Mom likes using boy names for girls. Alex works for her.

The doctor wanted to induce birth of our daughter on, September 11!
My wife refused and gave birth on the 13th which was Sunday.
In Germany those born on Sunday are called Sunday children (blessed).

She was my favorite beauty of the games. A total contrast between her and the sodomite. Congratulations to the beautiful mom.

Back in '88 I was three weeks late.

I don't think doctors would allow that to happen today.

I also have a cousin who was born in '91, and we were told she was a boy up until she actually got here and needless to say, none of the stuff my family had gotten was suitable for a girl.

She is easy on the eyes but is also a big time raving left wing nut job.

A happy day for sure.

Morgan had wanted to return to the team in time for the Olympics. That was always an awfully ambitious schedule, but with the COVID-19 hiatus, the time equation has shifted. Still, I wonder whether she will return. The majority of the women retire from professional soccer once they have kids, and at age 30 Alex was entering the endgame anyhow. Children do tend to change perspectives and, as a practical matter in the age of birth control, perspectives have already changed when a female athlete decides to go ahead and get pregnant. I've always suspected Alex already had one foot out the door when she and her husband decided to start a family, even if she hadn't admitted it to herself yet. My guess is that the Olympics was to have been her swan song.

She is one of the greats. Her goal scoring rate is incredible. Had she not lost the equivalent of two and a half years to injuries in the prime of her career, she would probably have finished second or third on the all-time USWNT scoring list.
