You realize that highway construction is riddled with graft/corruption.
Highway commissioners/supervisors are the worst.
Yes to some degree, but any government run municipality etc are ‘riddled’ with self serving individuals. Unfortunatly people run for office with that in mind far more often then actualy serving the public.
During the ERA days, an Illinois state legislator freaked out and went to the papers alleging that out of state ERA proponents offered him a bribe of $2,000 to vote for the amendment. A muckety muck political consultant was asked why the guy was so freaked. He replied, in Springfield he gets his votes for the price of a drink or lunch. The ERA proponents blew it.That poor smuck was never offered $2 grand for anything in his life. He freaked, thinking it was an FBI setup or something. Hell for $2,000 I can get you a state highway!.
