This is our ongoing prepper thread, re-invented to be more specific to prepping for, and of course during, pandemics.
Where gave you found your preps have withstood this test? What would you like to have done differently? What are your current prepping plans?
This is your ping to the All Things Prepping, Simple Living, Back to the Basics Thread - Coronavirus special thread
If you want off/on this list, just let me know - here, freepmail, smoke signals, carrier pigeons...whatever works for you.
Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
The false positive rate was 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's or one old farts life, it's worth it.
Being prepared is always a good idea.
Proper prepping prevents panic!

A prepping thread. It occurs to me that Free Republic used to have a great many prepping threads. Once a week or more. Several ping lists. But now you rarely see them. I got to thinking; what changed? Answer: Obama is no longer president.
The risks and dangers America faced when Obola was president are no longer here.
Yes prepping is still essential, as we can plainly see. But thank God we have President Trump in charge now instead of that Kenyan

I'll offer this....check you're thermometers to make sure they're working.
Also my Pharmacist said the closest cough medicine to have on hand to a prescription is “Delsym”.
Also, NWArizonaGranny passed away.
She kept a lot of them going.
First and foremost, cut back on the tp squares.
Was amazed here in central Ohio, that flour, cornmeal, bulk oats shelves are always empty. Need to find which farms have cribs of the grain I can buy and grind. Very few farms raise
wheat around here, might check with the Amish. A 10 or 15
gallon poly sealed drum filled with CO2 would make a good long turn storage. A standard blender will grind grain into flour.
I have plenty for a couple of months but the only thing I have run out of is Sam’s Mountain Lightning. Had to buy Mountain Dew at twice the price.
I have enough paper products for many months only because I buy clearance and sales. Just happened to buy 36 rolls.
Now I live by my self and don’t use toilet paper. I just wash my self off thoroughly in the shower. I then spray the shower down. I have been doing this for years.
Maybe once a week I do a more thorough clean with a commercial spray which kills mold mildew, germs and viruses.
I have .29 acres and am planting ALL of my backyard with vegetables this year....
Always wanted to do this.
Perfect time to have fun doing this.
Living in the foothills in California, we have been prepared for no power during fires. This means no water from the well. We prepared over the years and store gravity fed water in 2500 gal tank, and have just recently acquired a generator to keep our food in the frig from spoiling. The only thing we did not foresee with THIS crisis, did we stock up enough on toilet paper? Who knew that would be a major deal>?
Yep, if you have guns and no food, all you have to do is find out who has food and no guns. Then you have guns and food. (/s, if needed)
The main prepper thread was hosted by Kart — he left during the last election purge—was hanging out at GOP Briefing room.
Marcella was also a big prepping writer and left during the same time frame. There’s a bunch of former Freepers started a new site and some went to the briefing room.
I think both have visited occasionally, but I haven’t heard from them lately.
Marcella helped me a lot with questions about batteries and rocket stoves etc.
I miss those people.
The one thing I did as this was taking place and gas prices going down, we converted our "L" tank that normally holds diesel to gas. This gives us 110 gallons on hand and 300 gallons of diesel in overhead.
We also moved our 1000 gallon propane tank from the greenhouse (just not using it there much) and tied it into our existing 500 gallon on the house. Can fill portable propane bottles from the 1000 gallon tank for running portable propane generator.
One thing that we have not done yet is install a manual water pump in our existing water well. Next on the list to do.
My wife and I sat back and shook our heads at the panic shopping going on. We are well prepared and have been for going on 12 years now. It felt good to be as prepared as we were. Not bragging. We put a lot of effort to be prepped up for any circumstance.
Am preparing my apartment walls for painting once the weather breaks soon. Got painting paraphenalia etc. when I did the grocery run as nobody, at the time, knew how long or what would happen to prevent this virus's spread. ......I think everyone has their moment when their comfort level signal begins to blink yellow and it's time to evaluate ones situation.
Sounds like you are “prepped up” and ready to go
