Has anyone ever heard of the K level?

Back when I went to college, many years ago, my biology teacher brought up a thing called the K level, which he did after discussing how animals have a supposed level where they reach their peak of numbers and then some disaster, a disease, a climate thing or a malfunction of biology, something, occurs to cause their deaths and bring their numbers down to a different level where they begin to thrive again.

He said there is a thing called the "K Level" which is the level the human race reaches this same predicament and at that point the numbers of humans is so large it is inevitable (if I remember this correctly) where some event causes the human race to be destroyed in some percentage back to a level where it can thrive again and grow.

I cannot find anything on this however, on the net. When I went back to college a number of years ago I mentioned it to a professor I had there who was extremely surprised and said to me, "Where did YOU hear of the K LEVEL?" He did know of it.

I looked it up some years after that, found something on it then and was not able to read the article or whatever I found, being called off to do something. I forgot about it till now, tried to find something on it and cannot find a thing.

Does anyone out there know about this mysterious thing called the "K level" for the human race?

Could it refer to “carrying capacity?”

I’ve had “Special K” for breakfast.

I’ve read about the K-hole, from ketamine abusers/explorers.

But, I hadn’t heard the term “K-level”.

There was a video game I used to play years ago that I seem to recall had a K level.

K = the carrying capacity of the population; defined by ecologists as the maximum population size that a particular environment can sustain.

Never heard of it before today.
With this new knowledge, I’d say the communist RATS and Chinese-bought Monica Media have definitely gone well beyond their K levels and use by dates.

We keep increasing it with technology.

The planet could easily support 10 times as many people as we have now. But if the food were to stop the cities would die pretty fast as their K-level is externally sustained.

Thank you for that reference.

I was surprised to read Malthus wrote about this in 1798, and it really does sound like it but I could not find the ‘K level’ there, however I did find “Slope is the marginal product of capital, MPk. This is because adding one unit to k, the quantity of capital per worker increases y, output per worker, by the marginal product of capital because f(k)=F(k,1)

As the slope is MPk and because MPk is diminishing with K, the production function is concave (its slope decreases as k increases)” which sounds something like it. Yes, this could be it and why my professor was so surprised.
