“I have no idea what will happen as far as the NBA goes but one possibility is the season ended last night and that is it.”
Obviously there will come a day when this is over, but it won’t be sudden, it will be very, very, gradual, as is happening in China. The reason being is that if we manage to, miracle-of-miracles, keep 80% uninfected, the last thing that we want to do is open the floodgates to having it spring-up again.
Given that, non-essential activities involving multiple people will be the last to ‘normalize’, and the NBA certainly fits that description, along with the NFL (especially).
So, no sports this year...hopefully we can slowly bring it back starting next year, maybe.
April 15 was to be the final regular season NBA games. My guess is, if this thing settles down by the end of April or so, they might just take the standings as of now and seed the teams and hold the playoffs.
If the virus disrupts things much beyond that, they’ll probably just cancel the rest of the season and playoffs.
NBA just announced that the suspension of play will be for minimum of 30 days.
