I find myself agreeing with him. It would solve 99% of the so-called homeless problem in CA.
Get the mentality off the streets and into mental institutions were they belong.
Its inhumane to allow crazy people freedom when theyre incapable of taking care of themselves.
Humoring the mad has led to disastrous consequences in CA.
well they closed the institutions long ago so just where did they think these people would end up? If not on the strets they’re in prisons...neither ‘help’ these people. And there are many who would not go willingly for help.
Get the mentally ill off the streets and into the Democrat debates where they belong.
If you did mental reviews, and forced drug-rehab (with failures referred to fenced-in compounds)...I might agree that 90-percent of the problem would go away. From the remaining group...they might as well admit that job growth in the state isn’t going to work, and find some way to help those restart their lives in a more active job market.
But here’s the thing...Newsome will probably only fund this mental review thing with 2-percent of the funding required, so you will see 200 folks put away, and then the whole thing ends at that point.
I’ll add this as well...if they do the mental review, and decide to put these ‘failures’ on some drug solution to control their paranoid schizophrenia....leaving them in half-way houses...that will fail as well.
He probably wants to use it as another money grabbing device.
You are correct of course. However this was litigated back in the 1960s and adjudged that even the mentally ill and the drug abusers had the right not to be committed but to wander about.
So everything old is new again.
