Do opium poppies grow well in southern climes and sandy/clayey soil?
If so, where can I get a starter kit?

And you said the thread couldn’t be hijacked :-)

The days are getting noticeably longer! I will probably start some spinach and borage seeds inside this week for planting outside the first week of March.

If the weather holds (20’s overnight, upper 30’s to 40 in the day), I should see signs of new growth on my chive plants in the next week.

Good Afternoon. Thanks for the ping. We had a cold snap here-got down to 6 degrees. So we have everything covered in straw and/or plastic. We have carrots covered and ready to eat.

Lemon trees have lemons not yet ping pong size, but bigger than a grape. Bay Leaf continues to grow. It’s about 9 inches tall. Hubby started some tomato and pepper seeds last week. Also Broccoli and Kale.

Hope everyone is doing fine. God Bless.

Had a thought. In addition to growing extra food and other supplies this year, it would probably be a good idea to grow extra herbs and spices for seasonings. With the supply disruptions happening in China, some spices are probably going to be in short supply.

I know that among other things, China supplies a large portion of America’s garlic.
