The Communist Manifesto got a shoutout during the 2020 Oscars.
Julia Reichert, the co-director of best documentary winner American Factory, which was produced by former President Barack Obamas new film company, apparently quoted from Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels infamous book during her acceptance speech on Sunday night.
Working people have it harder and harder these days and we believe that things will get better when workers of the world unite, Reichert said.
The quote appeared to be a riff on the last lines of the 1848 political document, which are frequently translated from German as Workers of the world, unite. You have nothing to lose but your chains!

Side note to Ms. Reichert: It is estimated that Communist regimes have killed over 100 million civilians. And Karl Marx was the inspiration for every one of those regimes. But why should that concern you?
Commie bastards need to be shipped off to Red China.
Don’t pop the bubble wrap — the air’s from China!!!!
:-)
Any photos of Che and/or cycle&hammer. Sheesh, I spent 11 years patrolling the seas and even land duty to secure our nation from the Soviet threat. Why is it these people have no historical knowledge? Rhetorical question.
You can fool some of the people all of the time sadly leaves room for these nitwits who believe in socialism to be just some of the people.
Marx and Mohammad ... false prophets of Hell bookmarking 12 centuries.
100 million? Even THAT could be a very conservative estimate based on some scholarly estimates of the atrocities committed by Josef Stalin and Mao Zedong during their rule of China. I wouldn't be surprised if the real toll could approach a staggering 150 million.
> Why is it these people have no historical knowledge? Rhetorical question. <
Yep. And if you try to remind them about that history, youll get the same old answer: This time it will be different.
Lenins firings squads were followed by those of Stalins, and then by those of Maos. But this time it will be different.
But at least the Cuban revolution really was different. Oh, wait...
To send men to the firing squad, judicial proof is unnecessary. These procedures are an archaic bourgeois detail. This is a revolution! And a revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate.
Che Guevara
Marx spells it out for them. You have to plan on killing off about 1/3 of the population to make socialism work. It’s the method of doing it, and, who to do it to, that varies from Hitler, Stalin, and the rest.
Actually, this might be wise counsel...
McCarthy was right.
How does Barack Obama know anything about producing a movie? Good grief. Does anyone really think he did that?
Saw the movie, proved why union thugs never learn. They ran GM off with thuggery, graft and poor workmanship on their cars. Then they made a pact with the devil...a racist Chinese oligarch who bribed and grifted his way into getting a factory in Dayton, Ohio basically for free. He imported Chinese managers to manage it, and then hired the previous Union thunggarenos at 1/2 what they were making. They tried to unionize and well that ended badly. This is Obama America, America under globalization where you have the bad and the worse trying to produce things. Why they lost badly in 2016. That producer chick, the one with the bald head was a walking cliche at the Oscars. The whole show was a woke embarrassment, Ricky G’s words echo’d throughout the hall and even the idiots cringed when they had to blurt out their leftists mouth diarrhea.
“How does Barack Obama know anything about producing a movie? Good grief. Does anyone really think he did that?”
He didn’t do that...somebody else did.
What the hell is that?
I believe the radicals (weather underground) of the early 1970s also said they would probably have to kill off 15 million Americans to make communism work in the USA.
Oscar? Like Oscar Meyer and his wieners?
Terminally ill...mentally and physically.
