The RAT candidates absolutely should be denied that vote based on their conflict of interest....just like Pence has "recused" and is not able to break a tie.

In the impeachment trial of Prez Andrew Johnson in the 1860's, one senator was running opposed to Johnson for the WH - he recused himself in the final vote to acquit. So there is precedent.
Of course today's 'rats are not bound by any rules except their own, which they make up for each occasion.
