The Trump administration has told airline executives it is considering suspending all flights from China to the United States amid the escalating coronavirus outbreak. On Tuesday, White House officials called major airline executives to inform them that the administration is considering a temporary ban on all China-U.S. flights. Companies such as United Airlines have canceled dozens of flights next month to mainland China, while others, such as Delta and American Airlines, are waiving cancellation fees for travelers to China. CNBC reports the temporary travel ban from China was discussed at a White House senior staff meeting on Monday.

If nothing else, even if it’s too late, let’s let the people know that our leaders have a plan in place and give us a bit of confidence that we’re not going to end up like China.
Some Hong Kong doctor/researcher was talking about models that they ran, and said the quarantine of Wuhan didn’t lesson the spread much. Of course he might have been talking about how the actual quarantine went. 5 million people escaped prior to the closure!
He did talk about how if this is seen to be passed on to third parties (now confirmed) that extreme measures must be taken to shut down transportation, etc.
And he said that it should be sooner rather than later. Heck - we put a ban on airline travel after 9-11 in an instant - everyone survived. Do the same RIGHT NOW. In two weeks assess the situation again.
He should still allow flights to blue states.lol
Well, I’d rather pick up a dozen marbles spilled on the floor than 500. And one has to get a potent enough dose of the virus for it to overcome the bodies natural defenses. So I imagine anything we can do to limit the number of people (and sources of viruses) coming in is good.
But yeah, it needs to be right now.
Won’t stop spread of Corona-virus. Because Chinese travelers from China can simply go to Thailand or Indonesia and take a flight from there.
It is a fallacy to think the almighty government can totally protect you. You protect yourself first! 2nd Amendment is there for a good reason.
As for the virus panic, 60,000+ people die in China EVERY DAY. How many has the corona-virus killed every day? 10? 50? 100?....drop in the bucket.
Protect yourself by getting enough sleep, eat nutritious food, exercise regularly and wash hands with soap&water every chance you get. That is what I am doing, and knock on wood, have not been sick for years and years. Medicare is making out with my case because I have zero medical issues and zero medical bills. Not bad for approaching octogenarian in couple of months.

If it’s no big deal why has the Chinese govt. instituted the largest (and no doubt costliest) quarantine in modern history?
That would be the best idea to cancel those flights.
80,000 Americans died of flu related causes in 2018. If we have a full blown epidemic I’m thinking a large percentage who die from caronavirus might well have been taken by the flu anyway.

It seems like most infections are in the city of Wuhan with population of 11 million.
Only 5 confirmed cases in United States and ALL had traveled to Wuhan city.

1. The Chinese govt wouldn’t have a reaction of this scale just to “not spread it any more” if it’s a minor threat. They’ve never reacted that way to similar (if not worse) outbreaks (i.e., SARS).
