A search is underway for a vehicle that struck and killed a 27-year-old man that was lying in the middle of the road after being kicked out of a bar in Fair Oaks on Friday night, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident happened at approximately 10:36 p.m. in front of Players Pub located on Fair Oaks Boulevard, just east of New York Avenue.
Witnesses told officers the deceased man was asked to leave the bar due to intoxication. CHP said they determined the man was lying in the right lane of westbound Fair Oaks Boulevard when he was run over by a vehicle moving at around 35-40 miles per hour.
The vehicle, described as a dark-colored sedan, kept driving away. The car was not located anywhere in the area.
CHP said there are no indications that this was a suicide. The identity of the decedent has not yet been released.
"What was that?"
"Probably a rock or a pothole I figure... "
“It was either Gerry Cooney, or a speed bump.”
RIP, buddy.
Play stupid games... RIP.

Did the man show up at the bar drunk, or was he served there until he was drunk? If its the latter, I hope the mans family sues the bar.
Side note: Yes, I believe in personal responsibility. But when a bar serves a visibly intoxicated person, they deserve some of the blame for what might happen later.
They just ushered him out onto the street?
Well, that was their first mistake right there.
He wasn't intoxicated, he was deceased. As a former drinker, I admit those two conditions sometimes look the same...but there are subtle differences.
FResno not to be outdone....hit by MULTIPLE cars Monday night:

If it’s in deer country, they might have thought they hit a downed deer and decided to check for damage, hanging skin, etc., when they stopped...if so, they need driving glasses though unless he was in plain brown coveralls...
That happened here about four or five years ago. It was the cops that ran the guy over, but at least they didn’t leave the scene.
Gave the accidental impression someone was trying to sell their car to hide the evidence...
"That's Dead Skunk..."
Hopefully the bar owner has *LOTS* of insurance.
I tended bar for a lot of years. Hard-core drunks can almost always pull it together long enough to get served, and that can be a big problem for the staff when they're falling off the barstool or picking fights halfway through the first drink.
I’ll teach them logic sometimes fails.
I found a black man lying in the middle of US Hwy 49 in Tchula Miss in the delta about six years ago at night with crowds of 100s milling about over by a juke joint looking like the Congo at village movie night...
We stopped with my wife panicking not to stop given large groups of blacks at night frighten her
We thought hed been hit and expected the worse
No he was dead drunk
My son and I dragged him off the road to under a tree
Then we went in the store to get some excellent Delta fried chicken
“Just a scratch” (front-end) ;-)
