Pasta becomes a vegetable under Trump administration as loophole is created which hacks away at Obama-era school lunch rules

A Trump administration “loophole” in school lunch rules will allow for certain types of pasta to qualify as vegetables as well as for students to get more burgers and fries.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s proposals will continue to erode Michelle Obama’s legacy by easing restrictions on the types and quantities on fruit and vegetables put on the table.

“Pasta made of vegetable flour(s) may credit as a vegetable, even if the pasta is not served with another recognizable vegetable,” the new guidelines say.

The department said the changes will help to reduce food waste, because students were often given too much fruit and vegetables, which was thrown away.

Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue said: “Schools and school districts continue to tell us that there is still too much food waste and that more common sense flexibility is needed to provide students nutritious and appetizing meals. We listened, and now we’re getting to work.”

The changes also give provisions for more à la carte meals, which can be things like pizza and burgers. …

Schools should not be in the restaurant business.

"What is it any of the Daily Mail’s (UK) business? Worry about your own pathetic country."

It's the same country that had war rationing well into the 50's, and the same country that allowed Germany to occupy the Islands of Guernsey and Jersey, and confiscate all the meat and vegetables for themselves. The locals starved. The only baker on Guernsey was reduced to baking bread once a week, because the Nazis used his oven the rest of the time. He joined a group of resisters who began printing a newspaper called "Guns." His job was to distribute it. Eventually they came and locked him, and the rest of the group up. He was imprisoned on the island for 6 months. He only got out because his wife pleaded that they release him so he could bake bread.

Pasta is made from wheat. Wheat is a plant. Therefore pasta is a vegetable.

Next up: this rule change is demonized as a sop to the cauliflower crust makers.

And the federal government should not be in both combined.

Pasta can be made from beans, chickpeas, lentils, soybeans, potatoes, yams and a variety of grains.

You can also get stringy, swirly pasta-like concoctions made from squash or other vegetables, but they aren't true pastas.

Most intriguing: seaweed pasta, and pasta made from crickets or other insects.

Context. The demilitarization and occupation of the Channel Islands was allowed against Churchill’s explicit advice. Churchill’s own war cabinet overruled him on this.

Churchill also got voted out of office after the war, and they brought Labour and Clement Attlee down on themselves with all of their push to the left (NHS, nationalization of railroads and other industries, continued rationing, ad nauseam).

Sadly, sometimes you get better coverage of U.S. news from the DailyMail than from our own media.

Some pasta is made from vegetables, and is a “vegetable”.

I know democrats are not big fans of science when it interferes with their politics.....

Plus, it comes with it’s own plate, so it is environmentally friendly.

When I was in grade school, I ‘worked’ in the cafeteria. Every other day with another girl from my class, I would empty the plates and put them in the dishwasher. We each received two free lunches for this. The day we worked and the day after. I liked that and so did my parents. PS-we weren’t forced to work, we were offered the opportunity.

When I was in elementary school we had to work in the cafeteria usually once a semester. Do they even do that anymore?

Sure, and our press has no business reporting on other countries too, right. We ought to have no knowledge of what’s going on in the world beyond our borders, including no news of what our enemies might be up to. Very interesting world outlook.

Woke up in the morning
Put on my new plastic glove
Served some reheated salisbury steak
With a little slice of love
Got no clue what the chicken pot pie is made of
Just know everything’s doing fine
Down here in Lunchlady Land

Well I wear this net on my head
‘Cause my red hair is fallin’ out
I wear these brown orthopedic shoes
‘Cause I got a bad case of the gout
I know you want seconds on the corndogs
But there’s no reason to shout
Everybody gets enough food
Down here in Lunchlady Land

Well yesterday’s meatloaf is today’s sloppy joes
And my breath reeks of tuna
And there’s lots of black hairs coming out of my nose
In Lunchlady Land your dreams come true
Clouds made of carrots and peas
Mountains built of shepherds pie
And rivers made of macaroni and cheese
But don’t forget to return your trays
And try to ignore my gum disease
No student can escape the magic of Lunchlady Land

Hoagies & grinders, hoagies & grinders
Hoagies & grinders, hoagies & grinders
Navy beans, navy beans, navy beans
Hoagies & grinders, hoagies & grinders
Navy beans, navy beans
Meatloaf sandwich
Sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
Sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
Sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
Sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe

Well I dreamt one morning
That I woke up to see
All the pepperoni pizza
Was a-looking at me
It screamed, why do you burn me
And serve me up cold

I said I got the spatula
Just do what you’re told
Then the liver & onions
Started joining the fight
And the chocolate pudding
Pushed me with all its might
And the chop suey slapped me
And it kicked me in the head
It’s called revenge Lunchlady

Said the garlic bread
I said what did I do
To make you all so mad
They said you got flabby arms
And your breath is bad
Then the green beans said

You better run and hide
But then my friend sloppy joe came
And joined my side
He said if it wasn’t for the Lunchlady
The kids wouldn’t eatcha
You should be shakin’ her hand
And sayin’ please to meet ya
She gives you a purpose
And she gives you a goal
You should be kissin’ her feet
And kissin’ her mole
Now all the angry foods
Just leave me alone
And we all live together
In a happy home
Thanks to
Sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
Sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
Sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
Sloppy joe, slop, sloppy joe
Well me & sloppy joe got married
We got six kids and we’re doing’ just fine
Down in Lunchlady Land

The same can be said of us, in terms of voters giving left-wing politicians access to power.

Left-wing dogmas are truly Satan-inspired, no matter what part of the world they infect and trouble.

The formulas are endlessly repeated. The susceptible again and again led astray.
