A federal judge on Monday pressed lawyers to prepare for an April trial in the prosecution of a Russian company charged with interfering in the 2016 presidential election, expressing frustration over delays in a case that was originally brought by former Special Counsel Robert Mueller IIIs office.
Were now on a trial track, declared U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich of the District of Columbia, during a 90-minute court hearing in Washingtons federal trial court. She added: If I left this up to you all, we wouldnt be trying this case until 2021.
Friedrich, federal prosecutors and defense lawyers for the Russian company, Concord Management and Consulting, have argued for months over evidence in the case and who gets to see it.
Concord Management, represented by the law firm Reed Smith, was among several Russian organizations and individuals charged in February 2018 with carrying out a scheme that involved purchasing advertisements and posing as Americans on social media, all with the aim of sowing discord in the U.S. electorate.
Of the 16 defendants charged in the case, Concord Management is the only one that has answered to the accusations in Washington federal court. Concord Management has mounted an aggressive defense, with Reed Smith partner Eric Dubelier attacking Muellers appointment as unlawful and arguing the special counsels office charged the Russian company with a made up crime.

Interesting that Mueller could get many other convictions. Odd story.
HYSTERICAL - the Mueller prosecutors have found themselves in front of a TRUMP JUDGE, who is simply in no mood to let them walk away unscathed.
For those who don’t remember, the Mueller prosecutors made a MAJOR MISTAKE by indicting a Russian company, along with a bunch of Russian individuals. The individuals are required by US law to show up in person, in court, if they want to defend themselves (and since they’re in Russia, Mueller’s bunch figured, correctly, that they wouldn’t show up).
BUT, the company can represented remotely - so the Russians hired a US law firm and the Mueller prosecutors are now up the creek, since they must now put up or drop charges...and I don’t know if dropping charges at this point is even allowed without some penalty.
won’t be surprised if this case is withdrawn by mueller prosecution team on exactly the day it goes to trial, not one moment before
YUP
I remember Rush got quite a chuckle when Concord answered the indictment forthwith and had Mueller et al hemming and hawing. IIRC, Concord wanted to move right ahead to discovery and the Special Council’s office suffered a huge clong.
How many are/were posting on FR?
Is posing as an American on Facebook really a crime??
Thanks for the reminder, it was HYSTERICAL. Mueller’s guys show up, and so does the law firm. The law firm pleads Not Guilty on behalf of the Russian company.
Mueller’s guys are like, WTF? So they (Mueller’s thugs) say that they don’t really mean what they just pleaded...they got confused. The judge looks at the Mueller bunch and is, like, WHAT?
There’s more to it, and I’ll try to find it.
Mueller was before the FISA court in 2002 because of FISA abuses. When he was special prosecutor, he looked the other way to the FISA against the President that have now been uncovered.
Mike Nifong, anyone?
There is more to it. They are essentially trying to criminalize anonymous politically charged commentary online. If it works against Russian trolls everybody on this forum is next.
Constitution doesn’t make difference between citizens and foreigners regarding freedom of speech.
That Mueller did is against Constitution.
