A year after he helmed "The Haunting of Sharon Tate," in which Hilary Duff played the doomed starlet plagued by visions of her death, the director is carving out his own unsavory subgenre of exploitation, stripped entirely of Tarantino-esque artistic notions. Try as actor Mena Suvari might to imbue Brown Simpson with some sense of wistful, melancholic tragedy, Michael Arter's script offers both women little in the way of poetry or empathy.
Try she does, though: 20 years on from the teenage promise of "American Beauty," Suvari's sincere attempt to make something hurt and human of a character largely scripted as a leering series of psychological red flags is poignant in such chilly, desolate surroundings. Still, there's only so much an actor's best intentions can do with much of the dialogue here.

When OJ was playing football, there were some stories about his rise and about him coming out of the gang life.
He was known for fighting with two knives, one in each hand.
There wasn’t two attackers that killed his wife and the young man. It was OJ with two knives. Never came out in the court case.
>>> killed his wife and the young man
Which is horrible, but you have to weight the fact that a policeman used the N word.
To Varietys credit, the publication termed this film, carrion cinema.
Thats some kind of good writing.
Nicole Brown was better-looking than the actress playing her. Which is a little unusual. Kinda like the way Bugsy Siegel looked more like a movie star than Warren Beatty (who is, surprisingly, given the dissipated lives of so many in the biz, still in the land of the living).
> a policeman used the N word <
As a cop, Mark Fuhrman was an unprofessional loose cannon. He actually tried to collect disability pay based on his instability, and his dislike of black people. He deserves much of the blame for OJ walking free today. Why he is in demand as a police commentator is mystery to me.
I was with the deputy police chief when that jerk was exposed and the chief said, thats it, OJ skates.
Whatever happened to Kato?
“American Beauty” is what started me down the road to not going to the theater anymore.
The perfect gay male couple. The secretly gay military guy. The severe immaturity of keven spacey’s character being portrayed as brave...and on and on.
It won best picture and that pretty much killed hollyweird for me.
That is a bad reel from the 1970’s...
Yes, the constant bleating of agenda overwhelmed everything. Of course, the overhead shot of Mena in a bathtub of rose petals is how they marketed the film. I saw it with some friends who are liberal twits.
From Pee Yew studios.
If the "Bugsy" movie were made today, the production would find an actor who's a ringer for the dead Iranian master terrorist.
I’m friends with a sports radio guy, and we had an interesting conversation one day about O.J., and if he’ll ever confess. My buddy gave me one of the best explanations I’ve ever heard for Simpson’s actions that night, and since. He said O.J. only knows life in two ways, winning and losing. He was raised that way when on the streets, and learned it even more as an elite athlete. He said O.J. doesn’t look at this like he murdered his wife, he looks at it like he won and she lost. Period.
I’ve always believed Simpson murdered both of them, and my hope is that he’ll confess — on video — before his death.
I only learned recently that OJs father was a transvestite and homosexual who died of AIDS in 1986. It was a big secret for OJ and he told the world his father had died of cancer. Growing up how he did, it was probably a huge source of embarrassment and rage.
