My 2620 will not send a fax. Rings fine but will not connect to other end. Any ideas on a fix? Thanks.
I thought FAX was dead.
Let me google that for you.
Seems thats true. Case in point
Not an expert but two questions:
1. was it working before?
2. is your telephone system analog or digital?
Thats not entirely true. I think the NYT and CNN still use a FAUX machine to transmit news stories.
are you able to receive faxes? have you called your number and see if you can hear the fax noises aka “handshake?” it’s actually easier to send faxes than to receive them.
What does your error log say?
Use email.
Does the receiving end answer with fax tones?
p.s. I see there is a firmware update that got issued on 3/28/19. Not sure if this machine has an ethernet or wireless connection. if so you can enter the ip address into a browser and look at the fax log.
yeah definitely call the recipient with a regular phone and listen for the handshake

Most likely your dial tone provider has switched codecs or gone full digital and no longer supports data transport.
Try faxing from an online fax provider service using a scanner.
I remember back in the fax days I’d call the number in question from a regular phone to be sure that there was another fax machine there.
you’d be surprised how many still use faxes!! I manage my husband’s HVAC business and construction people/supply houses still use faxes. The NYS gov’t uses it quite frequently as well. I have my multifunction set up to send all faxes to email in .pdf form
Damn, it feels good to be a gangsta!
Test yours on more than one fax.
Have distant machine send fax to you.
Did your machine ever work?
Your machine actually gets a valid pick-up signal from the other end?
Even my “behind the times” office tossed the fax. Never hear of email? No email on other end. Copy document and address an envelope....
