For some reason I doubt the ancients who built Persepolis respected the cultural sites of others. We know Islam respects no other culture currently. Numerous examples exist. The left is similar. I’m willing to respect a cultural site up to a point but not unconditionally.

On the contrary, Persian monarchs Cyrus and his grandson Darius respected the religion of the Jews and intervened to let displaced Jews in conquered Babylon go back to Jerusalem, reclaim the land and rebuild "the temple of their God." These Persian monarchs even provided funds, supplies and safe passage for the journey back.

That was, I would guess, unparalleled gracious treatment for "foreigners and their God" in the ancient world.

When Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Netanyahu honored him as "The New Cyrus".

Israel issued a beautiful coin/medallion bearing Trump's image along with the Persian king Cyrus.

It is not really relevant whether the ancient Persians respected other cultures (they did not, in the modern sense). We live in a post-Enlightenment world, and we abide by our prevailing laws, not those of ancient peoples.
