This and other sites document women Scythian warriors, or at least armed women.

The site is also interesting in that women of very different ages were buried there but there are no signs they died a violent death.

It's so hard to separate reality from myth when it comes to Amazons.

I'd quibble -- it is easy to separate that myth from reality -- it's a myth that there were any Amazons. Someone I knew on another forum (I probably should get back over there, see how the forum is doing, it's been years) pointed out that the Greeks mistook skirt-clad horsemen in Anatolia for women.

One of the strange myths about Amazon warriors was that they had one breast removed so they could draw and shoot a bow unhindered.

So many myths have some roots in reality, I wonder if they find a Amazon mummified if it will prove or refute the myth.
