It was supposed to be a county budget meeting in Chattooga County, Ga., last Friday — but before it could even begin, the county commissioner’s wife stormed in and dumped a soda on a reporter’s head.
The shocking moment, captured partially on video, stunned the room into silence. Chattooga County Sole Commissioner Jason Winters’s jaw dropped. He uttered, “Oh, my God.” Another voice said: “There you go. I’m sick of it” — and Winters appeared to nod his head in agreement at his wife’s actions.
Meanwhile, the reporter sat at the table drenched, saying nothing.
“Oh, that’s classy!” a taxpayer attending the meeting yelled at Winters’s wife, Abbey Winters, (snip)
Abbey Winters has since been charged with simple battery and disorderly conduct in the bizarre soda attack on AllOnGeorgia reporter Casie Bryant, which witnesses told police appeared to be completely unprovoked. People and reporters attending the meeting said they could hear Abbey Winters say “You deserve that” just after dumping the drink on Bryant’s head, according to the police report and the Summerville News, which was at the meeting. The 39-year-old reporter did not say anything in response but calmly got up and left the room as the soda dripped down her face and onto her coat, witnesses said.

The incident comes amid mounting concerns about hostility toward journalists starting at the highest levels of government, with President Trump’s frequent cries of “fake news,” and trickling down to local news.

As a broad statement, I would say that journalists across the country have been encouraging violence. I guess it never occurs to any of them that the public really hates journalists.
It’s fun when somebody threw a shoe at Bush and speaks truth to power.
But dump a soda on a reporter’s head and everybody loses their minds.
I’ll need details about what led up to this incident

Don’t blame President Trump, we all hated journalists long before he come to office.
Liberals don’t dump soda on reports, they hit them with socks full on concrete.

I once dumped the contents of a trash can on a fellow student’s head. He totally deserved it, and I never had another problem with him.
Yeah seriously, the detail about the events leading to the soda assault are very conspicuously absent. Wonder what the question was that prompted the retaliation?

The article suggests the Commissioner may have been taking a taxpayer funded junket overseas, so it is possible this reporter was being attached for doing actual journalism, something which today's journalists do all to rarely.
As I read that, it was “a reporter”, divining there were other reporters present. To have singled out one reporter, infers a, that reporter might have written something inflammatory, or, b, said something somehow, or, c, yes, she does have that physicality.
That deserves jail time.

Looking into this, the Commissioner was kicked out of the Democrat part about 5 years ago, and beat a Republican for the position, so I guess he’s a popular independent.
As far as the reporter. the report made snide comments about a recent overseas trip the Commissioner took with his wife to Paris. I think the wife might have take offense at the insinuations!
