This is real. Normal people are denied entrance to college, and jobs. This discrimination is wrong.
It may be wrong, but it's legal under federal law and in many states, assuming the Supreme Court gets it right in the two Title VII cases it heard this fall. Title VII does not prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation, and that would include discrimination against straight people.
