I don’t know any replicants.

Some of those vending machines might need to be “retired”, though.

Rutger Hauer turned in an Oscar-worthy performance as Roy...

There are some really deep themes in that movie.

Even the Question

I think Decker got beat up too easy to be a replicant.

Roy is sitting in the rain contemplating his existence and he releases a dove when he “dies”.

There are a lot of explanations.

Even Ridley Scott plays games with the meanings.

The replicants want to understand their place in the universe.

Man wants to understand his place in the universe.

The replicants go to Tyrell for answers.

They receive their answer and in their anger, they kill their maker.

The replicants are just us.

Why do we have to die?

Would we poke our thumbs into the brain of God in anger?

I don’t completely understand the unicorns in the movie.

I guess I would go with the explanation that they are Christlike.

Roy has a nail through his hand.

Christ is important to understanding the movie.

As for me, I tried several screen names for Free Republic, and they were all already taken.

My first unit in the Army was The Sixth United States Cavalry. Our unit crest was a blue unicorn. That’s how I came up with blueunicorn6.

Rewatched it to see if that made “2049” any better.
It made it look like crap.

Such a good view of existential mysteries. What a film!

Big difference is the “off world” meme. People don’t aspire to space anymore.

So good.
Even satisfies Dashiell Hammett ‘private eye’ movie comparisons.

I don’t completely understand the unicorns in the movie.

Rachel is the unicorn. The replicant who will live longer. That's my take.

Yeah, Rutger is amazing.
Ford does a good job opposite him though.
Bet neither got any Hollywood awards.

No one aspires to anything- that’s the dif between BR and BR2049.
Our schools have taught that out of humans.

I was thinking about the replicants.

Were they made from human tissue?

Tyrell tells Roy about all the cloning problems they’ve had.

But the eye guy tells Roy that he made his eyes. Roy sticks his hand in boiling water with no effect. Leon sticks his hand in the cold solution with no effect.

Are they machines?
