You are looking live!!! All times are ET.

This is the rare Saturday where the best game of the day is at the Noon window. In a possible playoff elimination game, #9 Penn State visits the Enclosed Horseshoe. THE Ohio State University is a 18 and a hook point favorite. One possible reason for the large spread is Penn State's defense in its last two games gave up 31 pts to Minnesota and 27 points to Indiana. Also, the best defensive player in college football Chase Young will be rested and available for THE Ohio State University. I posted a story about Buckeye Nation claiming they will boycott ESPN College Gameday. We shall see how many people are in the background when Lee Corso does his hat selection pick.

For the mid-afternoon window perhaps one of these games might provide some tension. TAMU visits UGa. Texas visits Waco. Michigan pays a visit to Indiana.

The prime time game is TCU visits Norman. Oregon visiting the Fightin' Herms is potential alternative viewing.

I had a post the LSU spread over Arkansas is the largest for a SEC match up since 1978.

That Ohio State and Penn State spread seems awfully high. I don’t usually watch much Big Ten football, but that’s worth a look. The #9 team in the nation should be able to keep it close with anyone, unless they are overrated.

In terms of actual scoring against mutual opponents, LSU has a 23 point advantage:

Yeah, and they are really deadly at home. I don’t see Penn State with a chance of winning, but 18.5 is a three possession game. I’m just hoping for a closer game, as there are not that many good matchups this weekend.

The LSU-Arkansas spread I think opened at 46, is at about 44.5. What was the 1978 spread. If I were to Guess, it had to be a Bear Bryant Alabama team vs. Vandy.

So tell me: Why are the weekday(TWTh) games the pits? The NCAA is missing something here. 100+ teams out there and they can’t put together ONE good matchup?

"...hoping for a closer game..."

That's the problem with OSU - their games get so lopsided only a big fan will watch. I'll watch competitive games.

Since Penn State joined the Big Ten @ 93, or 94 it has been a good rivalry for the most part with both teams being ranked. The scores have been close with few exceptions. OSU has @ a 3-1 win record since Penn joined B10.
Home field crowd for either stadium is always a plus for these games also. Sold Out, and loud!

Well, I live in the South and follow an SEC football team closely. Many of the SEC teams like to schedule “cup cakes” or “cream puffs”, whatever your preferred nomenclature is, before their big-time in-state rival games. For example, next week is the Iron bowl for Alabama-Auburn, the Egg bowl for Ole Miss-Miss.State, Florida plays Florida State, Kentucky plays Louisville, South Carolina plays Clemson and Tennessee plays Vanderbilt and UGA plays Georgia Tech. All of those are in-state games. The other SEC teams that play next week are LSU-Texas A&M and MiZZOU vs. Arkansas. Note that LSU, MIZZOU and Arkansas play in SEC league play this week. LSU-Arkansas, MIZZOU-TENN, and Texas A&M plays UGA. So there are only 3 SEC league games this week. So for the SEC, that explains the crappy schedules this week.

Remember, NCAA does not control scheduling and in reality has impact on football like they do for all other NCAA Championships (i.e. NCAA BB tourney). Football schedules are the total control of the Conferences working in conjunction with league members.

Penn State has been playing Ohio State close the last few years. Penn State by 3 in 2016, Ohio State by 1 in 2017 and 2018.
Part of that is due to Urban Meyer being an arrogant a$$. Example, him thinking it was a good idea to kick the opening kickoff to Saquon Barkley in 2017 and Barkley proceeded to house it. Arrogant fool got what he deserved there.
That 18.5 number is HUGE in light of the recent history of this matchup. But most of the main players from those teams are gone. That said, I wouldn’t touch that number this year. If forced, gimme Ohio State to cover. Home game, superior talent, and first year head coaches tend to like to make the boosters happy and cover the spreads, leaving little room for the underdog to squeak out a late 4th qtr cover with a last minute touchdown.

I look forward to this game every year. PSU is a talented team but they are very young. Coach Franklin is not a good game day coach...he is slow to
adjust and his play calling is predictable. OSU is arguably the best team in the country. In the Shoe, I just don't see the Nits being able to upset the
Bucks so I am really just hoping for a good close game. Enjoy the game, FRiend. Go State!

Coach Day has surprised me so far. Penn State should be a good test for the Buckeyes. Franklin seems to have his moments, and overall seems to be a good coach considering what he inherited. either way...Enjoy the Game! Go Bucks

I have so many comments I’d love to add, but as an OU fan, my team barely escaped TCU tonight, at home, when TCU had about 200 yds total offense... I’m gonna pass.
But damn Miami, damn

Always loved Penn State. A Great Football Program. Great Players, and History.
Thanks for the Luck. Think we are gonna need it against Michigan. It has taken some time, but I believe Harbaugh has them on the right track. Unfortunately :)
