CANTON — A 14-year-old boy killed a teen girl execution style because he apparently believed a false rumor she was pregnant and thought he was the father, according to prosecutors.
Isiah Lynch pleaded true — the juvenile equivalent of guilty —Wednesday to a murder charge for the March fatal shooting of 14-year-old Sylvia McGee.
Lynch was 13 at the time of McGee’s death.
Following a plea hearing in juvenile court, Assistant Prosecutor Michelle Cordova said Lynch told police he believed McGee was pregnant.
“That is what I believe got this whole thing started,” she said, noting McGee was not his girlfriend. “There was no evidence of any other reason for this.”
Cordova said the girl had not been pregnant, citing the results of McGee’s autopsy.
Lynch also pleaded true to obstructing justice for giving false and misleading information to police and an accompanying gun specification.
He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 7. Stark County Family Court Judge Rosemarie Hall is presiding over the case.
Several of the victim’s family members attended the plea hearing.
Carlina Hanley, McGee’s great aunt, reacted afterward.
“It’s still not closure,” she said, her voice breaking. ”(Lynch) should have just admitted it from the beginning.
“She didn’t deserve that,” Hanley said. “She wasn’t that type of a kid. She was upbeat and funny. I just can’t believe that he did that.”
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she recalled a teen who often confided in her and sought advice.
Hanley remembers a bright spirit; a girl who helped others, making sure her grandmother took her medicine.
McGee had improved her grades and aspired to be a beautician.
“She talked about owning her own business,” Hanley said. “She talked about moving to New York and taking her maternal grandmother with her.

This is a direct result of the cheapening of human life. These are children for Gods sake. It’s really troubling.
I am so glad to see what Kanye West is doing, I hope it stays strong in his soul because this country desperately needs God.

When I was 14, I still didn’t know what caused babies. Shoot, I’d have believed that kissing caused pregnancy, naïve as I was.
The girl I liked was like an angel. I was so scared of her, I wouldn’t have thought of kissing her. It would have been like defacing a cathedral.

Sounds like that case a few months ago where that thug at Ole Miss killed his girlfriend who was pregnant (allegedly).
I was the subject of such rumors when I was in my teens, several times.
The rumors were always started by another girl who was jealous in some way. Of course they were never true.
They caused me the most trouble with my paranoid alcoholic mother who insisted that “Where there’s smoke there’s fire.”
I was a virgin when I married in 1964. You could not pay me to go back to those years.

14 and 13 y/o teenagers out of the house unsupervised at that hour! Never ever in my family home would that have been permitted to happen more than once. I would have been ‘Grounded’!!
If it was this easy to take the life of someone he was once intimate with, you have to wonder, has this boy killed other people? People he didn’t care much about?

Unfortunately, this kid will be The Belle of The Ball in Juvie, unless they have the correct level of well trained staff.
Not for long. Someone else will have the misfortune of crossing him, meet a similar fate, and Lynch will be headed back to prison.

He probably thought the baby was his because he remembered having unprotected sex with her, meaning she WAS that type of girl.
Girls in the 'hood at that age are having sex. It's the truth. That's why many of them become grandmas before they turn 30.
Where have you been. These kids are unsupervised 24 hours a day. They are a feral population that society expends tremendous resources to police, incarcerate, and hand out free stuff too, money that could be spent curing cancer or some other worthwhile cause.
If the government is dosing children in plain sight then what is the government doing to the population as a whole in secret?
Age is no factor, here. Adults behave this way as well.
