NOTE: Paul Manafort was as close to an Achilles Heal as existed in the Trump campaign and administration. From 2007 to at least 2014, he was in bed with Russian oligarch and Putin ally, Oleg Deripaska, for the purpose of investing in Ukraine and influencing Ukraine politics. Backed by Deripaska money, Manafort became a central “Advisor” linked to the rise of “Russia-backed” Ukraine President, Viktor Yanukovych, who was elected in February 2010 and deposed in the Ukrainian “Revolution” of February 2014.

He was also looked at by the feds for that and they decided not to prosecute. 10 years later they take another look and now it's an issue ? Only because of Pres. Trump

I didn’t say Manafort was guilty, or that he should have been prosecuted; just that he was the Achilles Heal of the Trump campaign—politically.

His principal clients before Trump were deposed politicians: the Russian-backed President of Ukraine and before that, Ferdinand Marcos.

His primary financial backer was Putin associated Russian oligarch, Oleg Deripaska.

Of course I recall that, at the time Manafort came on board, most to the “Reputable” Republican operatives were shunning candidate Trump. (Yeah, we remember, you cowardly sleazebags.)
