Early Friday, the space station will rise in the northwest just after 5:40 a.m. and arc across the top of the sky. On its way up, it will pass to the right of the bright star Capella and the constellation Gemini.
On Sunday, just after 7 p.m., the space station will rise in the southwest, just to the left of three planets in alignment – Saturn, Jupiter and Venus, all about to set in the west. You need a clear view of the horizon to see this.
At 6:12 p.m. Monday, the planets again will be aligned as the space station rises in the south-southwest. It will move to the left, rising to maybe a third of the way up the sky, before blinking out in the northeast about 6:18 p.m.
Finally, on Wednesday, the space station will rise at 6:12 p.m. just under Venus in the southwest. It will move to the right, passing under the bright star Vega. Then it will pass above the North Star before setting in the northeast at about 6:18 p.m.

I saw the ISS fly right over my head one night, then disappear in the earth’s shadow. It took me a few seconds to figure out what it was, but holy crap. It’s a full magnitude brighter than Venus, according to NASA.
Well, at least it ain’t down here in the Deep South. Some yahoo would take a shot at it, and all nine of his dogs would shoot out from under the porch to fetch it and bring it home for dinner.
Well scratch that. Jupiter needs to align with Mars.
There’s usually a lot of talk about the ISS on amateur radio.

LOL, yeah. Imagine a mixed pack of beagles, coon hounds, Chihuahuas, and pit bull yard mutts go tearing off into the distance, chasing a space station the size of a football field that's burning up in the atmosphere. Cut 45 minutes later into the movie, and the whole pack is walking backwards, growling and whining, and dragging that thing up to the door of a single-wide trailer. ROTFLMAO!!!!!

I have the ISS Detector app on my phone. Use it to watch the ISS pas over all the time.

Years ago, I’d put the flight path on the computer for my students to see where it was and how far it traveled during the class period.

You can get an app for your smartphone that will tell you when the viewing opportunities are for your specific location. You can set filters for such variables as height-above-the-horizon and brightness (the brightness varies with sun angle). The app will notify you of matching conditions and, I believe, tell you when clouds & rain will likely obscure viewing.
they have a ham radio on the ISS and do speak to people
One of the most cool sightings of the ISS I had was 2006-7 when the shuttle had just undocked for reentry and was flying just ahead of the ISS.
Unless you knew what you were watching, just bright dots up there.
