Audience Review (Anna Gorman):

I had high expectations for this movie, and they were absolutely MET and EXCEEDED.

In my opinion, "Midway" is the best and most historically-accurate WWII movie of recent memory, and it's one of the few that actually highlights the air war in the Pacific. The writers seemed to recognize that simply recreating this momentous series of events was an amazing story in-and-of itself, without wasting time on unnecessary drama and distractions.

Audience review (Wes Wagner):

Went to see it with mild expectations and was blown away . Basically all the lead characters are second tier supporting actors and it works . Harrelson maybe a little too young for his part although he did a great job . The action is unbelievable and grabs you from the start and never let’s go . You will feel like your in the cockpit and what these men did in the air was beyond bravery .

It’s a independent film and I’m guessing couldn’t get the big bucks because of no big names however has the feel of a big budget $180 million picture which was made for $55 Million .

The best movie I’ve seen in 2019 by a wide margin .

The standard for historical accuracy is "Shattered Sword " by Jonathan Parshall. The book describes the battle in minute by minute detail derived from sources simply not available earlier. Shattered Sword is the description of the Japanese Navy before the battle.

The movie MidWay is based mostly on battle accounts written by the Japanese officer Lt Cdr Fuchida. The old movie repeats the fiction Fuchida created to justify the defeat.

I have watched the old movie so many times, my wife can quote lines. I'll have to go see this one
