The US Intelligence community has a history of using Sunni radicals as contractors (read: light infantry) against various Arab and SW Asian governments. It’s worked well, sometimes, but invariably you run into a problem when you try to disband the force. Armies always want to be paid and mercenaries are always on the lookout for their next gig.
Obama & Kerry were playing with fire using ISIS to depose Asad. It was the same thing as allowing the Muslim Brotherhood to take out Mubarak in Egypt and Khadafi in Libya. Problem with the Democrats is that they have no idea what the next step is — and that’s why they keep Republicans like McCain, Graham & Romney around. It’s kinda like their B-Team.
