My wife had stage 4 cancer before we got married.
Twenty three years ago. Two years ago I had a major heart problem but have recovered. That's life. We've made one together. Not quite empty nesters, but getting there.

Some years ago a family friend lost her husband and I told her to go and love some more. She was angry that I would say that. She was still grieving and not ready to envision life ahead. I hope you can find someone in your life to share what lies ahead. I'm sure your first wife would too.

outofsalt, I'm glad your wife recovered from the cancer and you from the heart problem and the both of you are still together!

I'm past the heavy grieving stage and am ready to move on with my life back as a single guy and so far, so good, especially since moving to Colorado Springs! I live close to the Front Range and they dominate the view from my apartment and just driving around town there's beautiful sights to see!
