Reptile breeder Brian Gundy had just given a talk and animal presentation Saturday at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library in downtown San Jose. While going to get his car parked on the second level of the Fourth and San Fernando Street garage about 4:30 p.m., he left his his snakes and lizards in boxes and a bag in a no-parking zone.
When he returned for his critters, he made a grim discovery.
"As I was loading up my gear, I realized the bag that had my four pythons and blue skink lizard inside was gone and they were just there seconds ago," Gundy told KTVU Fox 2.
Gundy had seen several people walk by his equipment, so he ran after them but couldn't catch up. He told KTVU he doesn't think they knew what was inside.

In a perfect world, the contents of the duffel bag would grab, constrict, and consume the thieves. I just hope they have the good sense to turn these beautiful creatures back to the rightful owner.

I’ll bet the thief shat himself when he unzipped and reached into his new find...

Many years ago I worked for a pointy-haired jerk technical manager.
Mr. Macho had an extreme phobia about snakes and lizards.
Once a little lizard happened to look him in the eye. Mr. Macho jumped back, left a shoe behind and shivered in a closet for a while.
I heard he is on disability for Crohn’s or similar.

Its a common topic in urban legends.
Stealing a bag containing grandmas ashes, stealing a bag containing dog poop for analysis by the vet, etc

That is almost as good as the box of black snakes wrapped like a Christmas present on the side of the road or a raccoon in a suitcase on the side of the road. Have been known to cause car abandonment.

OK, some methheads hit the mailboxes on my street one time in the middle of the night. They probably drove down the street and never got out of their car, busting open the locked ones. They got nothing from me because I already got the mail that day.
But earlier that day I had cleaned out a rattlesnake from behind the outside garbage can.
I still think to this day - if only I had known and put that snake in the mailbox!

Pythons? I imagine the guy ends up in jail or being sued when the thieves end up injured by the snakes.

I released a Bullsnake into the dorm shower stalls back in '78.
Does that count?
