Walmart's secret 'flower pot' device will sit in the home to monitor your family's health...
Daily Mail UK ^

Still in the prototype stages, this medical device is set to 'observe bodily movements and functions', and is capable of monitoring the progression of certain diseases.

'Disguised as a flower pot, the omnipresent detection system can observe bodily movements and functions, such as heart rate, gait, and ultimately the progression of certain diseases, to help prevent negative outcomes that may be costly or worst, fatal,' Barclays analysts wrote in a note following the event.

It seems at-home health monitoring devices are the wave of the future, as earlier this year, scientists unveiled high tech 'smart' pajamas that monitor heartbeat, breathing and posture could soon be available. The cotton nightwear is equipped with sensors that can detect the sleep quality of the wearer but will cost between £75 and £150 ($100 to $200). Five self-powered sensors sewn into the shirt's lining will provide continuous monitoring of breathing patterns and the amount of REM sleep the person gets.

REM sleep occurs at intervals during the night and is characterized by rapid eye movements, dreaming and bodily movement.

Four of the sensors measure pressure, or a body pressed against a bed. The fifth, is positioned over the chest and senses rapid pressure changes, which provides information about heart rate and breathing.

'Smart apparel with embedded self-powered sensors can revolutionize human behavior monitoring...' said associate professor Dr Trisha Andrew at the University of Massachusetts.

How long before this type of crap becomes mandatory?

In other words, if you want health insurance or you participate/eligible for public-funded health insurance (to include VA, Medicare, Tribal PHS, etc), then you MUST allow this crap to installed in your home.

'Cause, you know, if they know you're dying, they can cancel your insurance that much quicker and save money.

Just a matter of time, folks.

Nope.

I kind of know how well I have slept without reading data in the morning. This might be good for people who have sleep issues, but I can’t see the use of it for those who don’t.

It’s really amazing how the human race has survived as long as it has without this stuff.

When idiot liberals try to achieve perfection in life, they screw up life and destroy it.

This will work out great for the “I got nuthin’ to hide” dummies who latch on to every surveillance device the IT masters of the universe offer up.

Yep. Or you’ll have to afford a big premium NOT to wear them.

Car insurance co’s are now pushing “snapshot” the little device that monitors how you drive.

Health insurance co’s and gov’t will do the same.

Put down that donut/steak Setter or we will charge you an extra 5% on your premiums!!

I got some bodily functions Wal-Mart can monitor. They’re welcome to bag up the results and take it with them. (Note to Wal-Mart...bring plastic bags.)

First they get people to accept them by wrapping the pill in candy (lower rates), then they use those people’s acceptance to show that mandating them isn’t onerous or intrusive, then they mandate them.

Builders have been constructing “Smart Homes” for awhile. Initially, it was all about heavy wiring for internet and entertainment (music, TV, etc). It’s moved into “monitoring” now.

No thank you.

“then they use those people’s acceptance to show that mandating them isn’t onerous or intrusive, then they mandate them.”

I don’t know about you, but the idea of any sort of government mandate is wearing thin with me. The Left wants absolute power over us and they are not even trying to hide it. They are trying to convince their loony base that evil white nationalists are everywhere and only the Democrat party can protect them. They will lay down their arms believing in their idiocy. Then the real fun starts.

The future looks really lousy.

Hell, that capability has been here in Apple Phones for going back to their 8 model.

We know a young man who is in management for a farm product company.

He uses his Apple phone to document how many steps he walks/runs in a work day, steps he climbed and other data like his heart rate daily during their harvest and processing season.

He has a new Family Practice doc who suggested more exercise until this 50 year old did his Apple thing. Now, that doc has told him to eat more throughout the day and not to do that much on his days off.

I have a friend that I travel with. She can’t keep her hands off her Fitbit. She’s constantly touching it to see how many hours she slept, what her heart rate is, how many steps she’s taken. I said....who cares?!?!

"'Smart apparel with embedded self-powered sensors can revolutionize human behavior monitoring...'"

Who needs cameras when your apparel reports all your activity to a government monitor.

But but but! The auto insurance companies tell you that it’ll Make you a better drive and reduce your premiums. That’s the ONLY (*ahem* altruistic) reason they want you to have snapshot. 🙄 The REAL reason is to surveil you and give them a reason to cancel policies. Cuz, you know, you braked too hard at that last stop soooo... I have the AAA app. I just recently discovered that it tracks all that stuff as well when you’re signed in. Tumbled upon it totally by accident and I was like, “are you freaking kidding me?”!!! Therefore, I have ceased to use the AAA app for any reason and deleted it.
