Some feminists write to refer to themselves in the first person with lowercase _i_’s as a rejection of the individual and adherence to the collective (see Gloria Jean Watkins, AKA bell hooks, others). Are you a feminist?

Unfortunately, one of the penalties for impeachment is losing the ability to ever hold public office.

So how did Alcee Hastings get to hold political office after his impeachment and conviction?

Your scenario requires twenty-plus Republicans to cross the line, and end their career in the party. I just don’t see that happening. Once you read over the wording ‘super-majority’, it requires two-thirds of the Senate to agree. It’ll never happen. Mitt and maybe two additional Republicans might cross the line, but that’s about it.

The only thing that this act does....in a comical way....it consumes the passion of pro-Trump people and they donate more money to the Trump campaign. The suggestion is by January....a billion dollars will be in the pot for Trump.

We should all send a thank-you note to Pelosi, for helping Trump reach the billion-dollar pot so quickly.

"Senate will vote to remove from office."

That won't happen. Conviction requires two-thirds of the Senate vote.

"Trump needs to know that IMHO that you don't ask a foreign government to investigate your political opponent."

That is confused with a law that was violated by several Democrats. There was no law broken by President Trump.

Trump needs to know that IMHO that you don't ask a foreign government to investigate your political opponent.

Why the hell not when the political opponent bragged about blackmailing a foreign nation using taxpayer dollars?

Any Republican that votes to impeach Trump absolutely must be driven from office.

Wow, out of SIX sentences you only got ONE right and that is "Deep State cannot win".

Trump never asked a foreign government to investigate his political opponent. He hinted at QUID PRO JOE'S QUID PRO QUO WHILE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES! You DO know that Joe Biden was VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES UNDER BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA, RIGHT? And since when is it appropriate for a VICE president to UNILATERALLY make such demands on a foreign nation, eh?

Even if what Trump requested was inappropriate IT SURE AS HELL DOES NOT RISE TO THE LEVEL OF A CRIME (NO QUID PRO QUO), LET ALONE AN IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE!

My spidey sense tells me that some information is going to come out that'll make the IMPEACH-O-CRATS wish they'd never opened this can of worms.

And WHO AUTHORIZED the United States to send plane loads of LAUNDERED MONEY to IRAN? The House? The Senate? Anyone in Congress or other legislators? OH WAIT, OBAMA DID THAT ALL BY HIMSELF AND... CRICKETS!!!!

[That won’t happen]

Exactly. This won’t go anywhere. Joe Biden is the one that looks bad here. The rest is media hype. As usual.

“Trump needs to know that IMHO that you don’t ask a foreign government to investigate your political opponent. “

The logic of this is that if you run against the incumbent President, then you are exempt from any investigation of foreign criminality.

Makes no sense.

I bothered to read the actual transcript of the phone call. They make the disclaimer that it isn’t verbatum, as it is based on a person (two people?) listening to the call and taking notes, so something might have been missed.

The two presidents are trying to be friendly - the Ukraine one more so - a bit over the top in my opinion. Trump mentions the former(?) Ukraine prosecutor that dropped the investigation into the Ukraine company that Biden was with. And dropped it due to political pressure. Trump hopes that the Ukraine president will reopen that investigation.

The Ukraine guy says that he too has a swamp to drain, and is changing a lot of those corrupt people and will look into it - or reopen the investigation - something like that.

The conversation isn’t that long.

Re: Trump’s lawyers have the RIGHT to question all of these people under oath...

The only Trump lawyer I can identify by name or photograph is Rudy Giuliani - who is a burned out geriatric.

Trump, and his policies, have been under legal assault for the last 32 months.

I cannot recall one compelling argument or one compelling counterpoint made by Trump’s lawyers in that time period.

It’s almost like Trump is trying to lose.

I doubt the RATs will even get it to pass the House. The Senate will vote to dismiss if it does.

Yes. Thanks. Stenographers are very fast and accurate, by the way. With stenos on each side and translators to arrange the comments and replies perfectly chronologically, there’s accuracy. Wouldn’t presidents of nations have the best? Democrats have been dishonest about that issue.

Here’s the White House copy of the transcript of the call between President Trump and President Zelenskyy of Ukraine.

And here’s the White House copy of the leaker’s complaint. It looks like propaganda written by lawyers, journalists or other academic activists for public consumption. I’ve analyzed propaganda approaches for about 25 years as a learning experience.

Impeachment is just the trial. Conviction and removal from office would prevent him from holding future office.
