Bill Weld on climate change: Let the market decide
The Hill ^ | ‎9‎/‎20‎/‎2019 | Tess BonnTess Bonn

Posted on 09/22/2019 11:00:58 PM PDT by Pontiac

Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld (R), who is challenging President Trump for the GOP presidential nomination, said Friday that lawmakers should let the market decide when it comes to regulation on climate change.

Though Weld didn’t mention anyone by name, he criticized climate change proposals put forth by 2020 Democratic presidential contenders, arguing that a carbon tax is a much more feasible and economic alternative to address the the crisis.

He told Hill.TV that his proposal would not tell people what to do, which was an advantage to the other proposals. “They make their own decisions,” he said.

“That’s letting the market decide about carbon — that’s a much more powerful engine than just saying I’m going to spend $10 trillion dollars to promote clean energy,” he added. “You don’t know if you’re going to get there.”

A carbon tax is not letting the market decide. It is pricing the poor out of the market and price controls in general. Weld is a typical New England Republican which is to say a Centrist Democrat.

The liberals and enviro nazis would never allow any market based solutions anyway. Their whole way of thinking is totalitarian; they will decide what must be done, and then force us to do what they deem necessary to deal with this alleged problem.

The whole purpose of the scheme is to form a one world government under the UN.

Controlling carbon fuels is the means.

The only way to reduce CO2 emissions so as to head off Global Warming is to do it on a world scale. The only way to do that is to have an organization that controls carbon fuels on a world scale.

Who is the natural choice to do that: The United Nations.

The UN is seeking to be the One World Government by a number of different paths. Another ins the Law of the Seas Treaty.

I am sure that they are all about having this new tax be revenue neutral.

Of course these revenue neutral plan never work out that way.

A carbon tax is just another way
of appropriating money to give
to the illegals.

If the carbon tax was earmarked for building the wall and had a ten year or less sunset clause I might support such a bill.

Who gets the money from the carbon tax?
Who pays the carbon tax?
What will the carbon tax actually buy that will reduce carbon emissions?

Are people forgetting that we already have a carbon tax & the main thing it has accomplished has been to increase the price of just about everything else? What would a second one do besides make everything cost even more & accomplish absolutely nothing anyway?
