Derek Smalls, the bottom force of the fabled heavy metal band formerly known as SPINAL TAP, has announced the initial all-star line-up for his eagerly anticipated solo tour of West Coast cities this fall.
"Lukewarm Water Live!" kicks off at the The Wiltern in Los Angeles on November 6 with a rockstellar bill that includes, live in human form, TOTO's Steve Lukather, Stevie Nicks's celebrated guitarist Waddy Wachtel and rock aristocrat Dweezil Zappa. Beaming in, live on satellite, on all dates throughout this explosive celebration of all things loud will be guitar virtuoso Steve Vai, STEELY DAN legend Donald Fagen, multi-award winning actress, singer and comedian Jane Lynch, dynamic brass outfit SNARKY PUPPY HORNS and the outstanding Hungarian Studio Orchestra.

    Will they be performing “Stonehenge”?
That’s a nifty dancable tune, especially for those of the Elvin Persuasion.

“I do not, for one, think that the problem was that the band was down. I think that the problem may have been, that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was in danger of being crushed by a dwarf. Alright? That tended to understate the hugeness of the object.” — David St. Hubbins

I just saw Dweezil’s show last December at a small place in SoCal called the Coach house. His entire band looks like they’re all under 30, which is kind of surprising considering the difficult tunes they play. I’m not really interested in Spinal Tap type music though.

Dweezil is the real deal. I’ve seen him about ten times and his band never misses a note or beat. Check out Dweezil’s cover of Eruption...he is a spectacular guitarist aside from his pedigree.

He does some of his Dad’s tunes better than he did and that’s really saying something. The kid can really shred.

Hopefully the tour will be recorded in wonderfully clear sounding Dubly and released as Derek Smalls “Black” Album
