One has to be fairly poor to consider $1300.00 a lot of money. Sounds like she needs to downgrade from cocaine to crack.
In my younger and more vulnerable years, I worked my way through part of my undergrad years as a truck loader for UPS, on the graveyard shift. The PA system would be set up with an open mic set in front of a cheap AM radio, so we could all listen to what passed for news radio back in the day. I’ll never forget hearing the evolving news story of a couple who were arrested in New Mexico, heading for Mexico and wanted in Milwaukee for having stolen $870 from the Marc’s Big Boy they worked at. He was the night manager, she was a waitress. Obviously, something clicked and they decided to head out for Mexico. But not before getting their hands on that big cash that would fund them for years....all $870 of it. So, sufficient or “a lot of money” is relative and very different for different folks.
