I watched a rerun of the 1970s TV Series “Match Game” the other night. A word said during the question was muted multiple times. Charles Nelson Reilly made a comment about the word no longer being current (and this was originally aired in the 1970s). I am not sure the word but it could have been “fag,” likely allowed backs then but not now in reruns, based on an interpretation of the question.

He thought it was a funny act - not the funniest but not the worst either but that it was important because it reminded them of times when all comics used to speak unspeakable truths.
