If this storm indeed turns into a monster it’s going to be a real test of the levees around Lake Okeechobee.
If history repeats itself, the Corps of Engineers is already draining a good portion of the lake in anticipation of Dorian’s landfall. I still have a house in West Palm and have been arguing for years that they should just fix the damn levees and retain the largest source for drinking water in South Florida, rather than flushing it into the ocean every time a storm threatens.
